Honda Civic Coupe 1999 - RWD Conversion (Theoretical)
I was thinking folks. I was reading through some of threads to do with AWD Civic's, how difficult would it be to create a RWD Civic Coupe ? I really used to enjoy my '90 BMW 3 Series coz you could get the **** out in the wet, I sort of miss it with my Civic. The engines are my thang tho, I love the sound. So what do we reckon, could it be done ? or even an AWD 1999 Coupe ? Interesting project perhaps ?

it can be done, but from what i've heard those transmissions and drivelines don't do well with alot of horsepower.

not too sure about it. That guy who was on Mtv, True Life: i'm a street racer, the guy with the Lsvtec rhd DA is building an ef hatch that's suppose to be an AE86 killer...the stories in the Honda Tuning magazine. i have my doubts on it.

Do honda do any RWD cars you could potentially steal the drivetrain from ? I can't think of any to hand, I'll have to put my thinking cap on.

There was in fact a 4WD Integra in Japan too, but unknown to many people, some JDM Integras come with a D-Series motor, so I don't know for sure if it's a B or not with AWD.
The Honda AWD is for traction in slippery surfaces, not performance like a Nissan Skyline, Mitsubishi, or Subaru system.
The only way I'd ever try a platform other then FF is if I had mad cash and did the S2000 drivetrain into a hatch.

I've seen boosted CRV's and whatnot... So that's just a Turbo'd b20, which is quite quick for a civic. You don't think they could handle that? just curious

Getting running gear from a s2000 could be difficult, I guess with a "spot" of welding you could steal the 4 wheel drive gubbins from another manufacturer but that comes with its own problems. I did think of the crv, I'm glad I left it alone, shame, there was a guy at work who had one, he wouldn't have missed the 4x4 bit, The only time it goes off road is when his missus drops it in a ditch on the way back from the supermarket
