Default Honda Automatic/Manual Transmission codes

Tried search on Google, H-T and Hybrid Honda, got close but not close enough. I need info on the transmission ID for the 96-00 coupes.. All I could find in searching is info up to the 93 Civic's.. Can anyone help me out?

I just happened to find this while searching for info on automatic transmission codes and since it's the only (or first) entry I found about it, I figure I might as well correct it before someone else searches and finds the wrong stuff too.

Yeah, I know it's an old *** thread, but it's uncommon info and it's wrong.

'96-'00 USDM Civic coupes
Automatic:
A4RA (96-97)
B4RA (97-00)
CVT:
M4VA
Manual:
S40 (D-series)
S4C (B16A2)

'96-'00 USDM Civic hatches
Automatic:
A4RA (96-97)
B4RA (97-00)
Manual:
S40

'96-'00 USDM Civic sedans
Automatic:
A4RA (96-97)
AB4RA (97-00)
M4RA (97-98)
S4RA (00)
Manual:
S40

For the S40, I believe the E7F is the Y7 and the K4F is the Y8.

You'll have much better luck if you make a new thread.

So i'm having an issue with a tranny for a 96 civic coupe, automatic. I bought a tranny from a hondatech-er and it's code is S4RA which according to your posting, is from a sedan. Can i swap the brackets and make it work?

Coupe/hatch/sedan all mount the same, identical engine bays and identical mounts and brackets. But if for some reason someone put a different mount or bracket on it swap it for the one thats on yours.

I know this post is old, but this thread came up while doing research and I have a question.

Under sedans you have AB4RA listed as automatic for 97-00, is that a typo?

Just trying to get solid info on automatic trans for my 99 Civic Lx, which has B4RA which is original trans.

Most likely it is a typo. It's hard for me to check my information since I had a harddrive crash.
