Honda 99 ex Mini me swap D15b1\z6.....ISSUES
Civic Ex 99 coupe
Swap d15b1\z6
p28 ECU
car cranks after complete swap.
Fuel pump engages. Car cranks no start.
1 day later....
Car stops cranking.
Fuel pump stops engaging.
Checkes grounds, fuses, relays all working.
Only thing I can think of is the civics' VI (Vehicle Immobilizer) since the ECU swap from p2p to p28.
Is this the cause of no FP engagement or crank starts? an unmatched ECU to 99 ex coupes VI recognition? help please....so close to get this done.

There was no Immobilizer in the 1999 and certainly not in an OBDI ECU.
Do the headlights or anything work? Most likely cause is a dead battery or bad connections at the battery or main power and ground cables. Start checking with a voltmeter because no one can see electricity.

OK now that the VI is not the issue.
Battery is new and all lights seem to work if not perfectly. Had to change out the main relay and starter due to clicks and pop and sparks. I can hear a click somewhere near the intake manifold, under the fuse box(main relay I believe) and by the starter.
Main relay clicks when key in ignition is turned.
Still no fuel pump action no crank and start.
I've checked the ground wires several times and still nothing. Am I missing something?
Is the fuel pump bad? It was working yesterday.
I feel so close yet so far....

So I rechecked the grounding wires, plugged the p28 back in and I got cranks!: yas:
The car is back to cranking but no start. Which is better than no cranks IMO
Fuel pump does not come on FYI... The car has been stalled for almost a year now without any moving. There was a little over a 1\4 gas tank in there from when it was running. I think that gas is bad.
How can I check if the fuel pump really works??? thanks

so the fuel pump works. Turns on when jumping 1-7 5-7 on the MR harness. There is power going to the fuel pump when I do this.
MR is good I believe. Fuses are good also.
I ran a test: I grounded the wire on the pump itself and then ran current from the battery to see if the car would run. Car cranks but does not turn over. There is pressure going to the fuel rail but I believe the injectors are not opening.
Am I missing something?? Is there a missing harness in this swap?
Battery: Good
MR:Good
Fuses and ground: Good
FP:Good
Harness:???
Fuel Injectors arent opening either.
info. The swap comes from 92-95 Civic Ex
basically took out the motor and harness with its ECU and moved it to a 99 Ex civic.

Re: Honda 99 ex Mini me swap D15b1\z6.....ISSUES
I'm trying to wrap my head around this. I purchased a 95 civic ex as a donor car(sorry its a 96 ex)OBDII
It came with a mini me swap already in it. My y8 blew out on my 99ex.
I swapped the engine plus the harness with it and ECU into my 99 ex(so far the car cranks but does not start).
Am I missing something?? Is there another wire harness I am missing for the swap to work?? Is that why the fuel pump wont come on and the injectors dont open??
What can I do to make this swap work?
Info: So I would need the rest of the loom that is not connected directly to the harness to make it work.
I think that the previous owner converted his original OBD2 (1.6 liter) harness to OBD1 (1.5 liter). It should fit mine since its in the 6th gen category.
That just means that we have to take those looms that are still in the donor car from the the conversion and run them in the 99 ex.
So I'm going OBDI!
