Default homemade stroker kit

Didn't know where the best place to post this was, but i'll try here. My buddy and I want to do our own stroker kit for his 2000 SI. We were going to use an LS crank...but we're unsure of what kind of rods and pistons would be good. We're trying to keep everything OEM Honda parts. Anyone have ideas/suggestions ?

trial and error. lol. but I guess you know that it would be cheaper to get a B18C short block. LS crank no fitty.

The LS crank won't fit into the B16 ? I didn't know that actually if that is true.

well, the thought crosseed my mind to put the LS crank, rods, and 81mm JE higher compression postons in it, but, i don't think the LS rods will hold up too well. He already revs it to 9k, and has the capability of going to10,200 rpm, but he starts to lose power there.

You probably can use an LS crank...but as far as I know there are no honda rods that will be the right length for you.

that would for sure raise compression, but would it really change the stroke, since he wouldn't really extend the stroke by using the stock crank?

I thought when increasing stroke, the crank and rods are made longer? (i hope you see what i mean). It was just a thought.

just use stock b17 crank and rods, not .2 liters, but hell .1 liter with all stock parts for cheap is a good upgrade

If you use an LS crank/rods, wouldn't you actually be destroking the motor?

No, because the b16 is smaller, and with the pistons going up higher, it would create more compression.

Exactly. With the pistons going up higher, you're decreasing the displacement, not increasing.

Yea on me. Ok your makin compression; losing displacement.

Hehe, thx for catching m slip.

EDIT- You would still be stroking the motor, but you will lose displacement. But that sounds funny, lol.

EDIT #2- I meant stroking as increasing how high the pistons go, but you loose displacement due to the b16 hehe

Actually, you'd be destroking the motor.

Stroking = gaining displacement
Destroking = losing displacement

Ok now i got it, with the b16 block you are destroking it but making compression.

Thx for helping em under stand this lol.

Longer rods won't give you more displacement.
Displacement is stroke X bore.

B20 rods are the same as LS rods. Identical. What makes the difference between the b20 and the LS is the the bore size. B20 has a 84mm while the LS is 81mm.
