Holy ****!!! please give advice...
Well my friend has a 96 civic with a h22a in it and it developed a serious problem after a few months of him owning it. It has Place racing motor mounts and the problem was that the passenger side mount was well detaching itself from the frame. So my friend took his car to a local shop and they welded the mount back to the frame... a few weeks later and now my friends i guess you would call it the wheel well has about a 10 inch crack across it... well if that is too vague maybe the pictures can explain it a little better... the pics will be in the next couple posts sorry...

Sounds like he needs to go back to the shop and have them weld his body back together now too. He should have fixed the problem the first time instead of doing a quick cheap fix. I bet he wishes he had a B series swap right about now.

yeah.. damn those mounts.. what seems to be the best idea to do? just take the car back into the shop that initially welded the mount back on? ill take the car tomorrow back to the shop, but wouldnt the damage just keep seeping its way out to the weaker area of the body? that might seem hard to understand, what i mean is where the mount it welded the pressure went up to where the crack is now, if i have that welded wont it just find a weak place to break again soon? thanks alot for the help. i need to get this taken care of asap!
also, the one good thing about the h series swap is the torque.
thanks again.

Thats going to require a little customized fabrication to correct that problem. Your right, its just going to keep taring away at the weekest point. And who ever did that welding needs to go back to welding 101. It looks like they went with the "more is better" theory.

Alright, ill take it back to the shop tomorrow. I have only heard good things about the place that did the weld. Maybe they dont do much welding? Thanks for the advice though.

SUCKKSSSS...
how much torque does this thing actually have?
i'd be willing to bet that the heavy *** h22 and those stiff *** bushings were the death of it.

Re: (boostedhatchb16a)
That mount must be pretty damn stiff to cause a rip like that. It's almost like having that Torque monster literally bolted to the chassis itself. And the weld job just looks like a glop of melted metal. Hope you get your car fixed.

Re: (IDriveAHonda)
not trying to insult, but those welds look like poop. But i'm guessing the welder didn't have much room to maneuver, so he did what he could. Honestly, i think it's time to move to either
a. a new shell
b. weld that spot and then weld a piece of metal on top of it and hope nothing else cracks from stress.
