hole in my tranny
anyway i have an h22 eg, i was driving down the highway and i hit something it was pretty loud then 2 secs later i heard like a metal sound. so i pull over i look under the car cuz i thought i ripped my oil pan into shreds.... well it turns out its my transmission that has a footlong by 3 inch peice of metal taken out of it exposing the flywheel. its the metal right where the tranny meets the engine.
anyway i was 5 mins form home and i didnt see any fluid leaking so i decided to drive it home, i got it on jackstands and fluid is dripping slightly,
my questions are:
1.did this ever happen to any of u before, and what did u do
2.do i have to get a whole new transmission or can i jsut replace the casing
ill have pics up asap

1. hell no, and thank god!!! (knocks on wood)
2. depends on the internals of the tranny. find out if the parts are salvagable. to think about it, i'm not even sure how easy/cheap you can find a casing. good luck.

Re: (bob evans)
Open it up and inspect the parts. A friend of mine discovered his B16 transmission leaking prior to running it and towed it home. One new transmission case and LSD later and he's happy.

Yes, this has happened before to a few H22/civic's. Do a search in the archives under fastwanabe. He did a write up on what happened and how to fix it. Post up some pics though. You might be better off getting a new casing and making sure the gears are all good
