HMMMMM, just encountered a problem...
i haven't gotten a chance to take it apart yet, but my y7/y8 motor all of a sudden has little power and sounds like something rattling in the head. any guesses. i'm gonna have to take it apart, just wondering if any of you have encountered this before. the thing idles fine, in fact idles smoother than before. help. thanks.

The only way for us to know what's wrong, is if you take off the valve cover and look for any broken pieces laying around or remove the cylinder head and inspect for any damage.

Re: (Deemeetree)
yeas as he said and i dont think you dropped a valve unless you over revved the **** out of it or something but i dont know you could have lol. But yea just open it up and make sure everything is where it needs to be and while its open do a valve adjustment to be safe

ha, i straight jacked my motor! i didn't even over rev the motor but the rods couldn't handle it any longer. i was getting good power from the setup i had: pnp'd and milled y8 head, crower stage 2 cam with valve springs and retainers, individual throttle bodies, tuned. ran great, uh, well maybe the motor didn't think so. i was actually getting ready to replace the oem rods with some eagles, as i was kind of anticipating this if i didn't. should have done it sooner. oh well, guess it's time for the b18c.

pics of what? motor, damaged parts, car? i haven't disassembled the motor yet, i just know that it's something that has to do with the rods, i.e. rod bolts. i can put up pics of the outside though

I think you more than likely spun a rod or main bearing. My d16 did the same exact thing. Also Im the almighty HONDA GOD!!!!! and I know everything about those engines ahead of time. hahahaha
