Ok, i have a 00 SI and i just installed a HKS Hipower exhaust the I bought off of JDEMONE. He says the exhaust should hang a little, but my exhaust is held up really high and now my bumper is melting a LOT. How can I fix this?

I would get a muffler shop to reweld my hangers...so the bumper doesnt sit so high.

If you dont wanna do that..they make those ugly *** metal plates you bolt to your bumper.

I seriously doubt it....those bushings arent meant to be stretched anyways.

It shouldnt cost more than $20 to get your exhaust rehung...

Think boiling them in hot water then putting them on and pulling down on the exhuast would work..?

Damn cuz a lot of my bumper melted off already &gt;.&lt; But its a part thats touching the can

I had the same problem with that exhaust on my car. I just went to autozone and got some different exhaust bushings that were longer. I got two but I ended up only using one. I can't remeber if it was the right or the left one, but it made it fit just right.

That's what I did when my N1 was melting my rear bumper. You insert something inside the bushings to extend it, and hold that object in with zip-ties. Worked great for me for the 2 years I had it like that. No problems at all, and nothing's wrong with the hangers now that they're back to normal.

longer rubber hangers. Like $2 at autozone.

Ok, I bought the longer Exhaust rubber hangers from autozone (2.99 each) and I put them on. Now my exhaust hangs a lot lower so thats good cuz my bumper won't melt, but the holes on the bushing are a little big for the hangers and stuff...what should I do?

clamp something around the part of the hanger that sticks through the rubber part. I dunno. A hose clamp, 2 flat pieces of metal with a hole on each end with a bolt through each one to clamp it down. Use your imagination.

You might want to check and see if everything is sitting right in the center of the car too. If the exhaust hangs to low before to axle it could force the entire axleback up. I'm not sure if you have a hanger here, but check right in front of the rear axle, I did not have a hanger there and had to weld one in order to make my exhaust sit right.

You can also tape off bumper bottom section and paint it with do-it-yourself spray in bedliner.
