hitting red line
I have a 94 civic coupe ex with a gsr swap in it and when i try to take it to redline it hits rev limiter at around 7500, im throwing a code for knock sensor and also my oil sensor was unplugged so i plugged that back up and it was a little better but still sounded like it was straining to get to red line the motor it is a usdm bottom end with a jdm head

Re: (redtegsr)
are you hitting vtec. im thinking that if vtecs not working then the car will not go to the redline which is like 8100... not sure though. make sure vtecs working.
take your ecu fuse out for 60 to reset your CEL codes then check the codes again. if its still throwin the knock sensor code try and fix it.
im throwin a knock sensor code and mine goes to redline just fine im thinkin that knock has nothin to do w/ it

Bump for this fella cause I'd like to know.
I have a similar issue with my B16A2. Throwing a CEL for code 91 FTP Sensor (hatchback ain't got one). Mine starts to limit at about 7600. Could it be my tach is inaccurate. It is after market (and I hate it but I can't afford a new cluster right now).

Re: (Techy)
Im not sure, but i don't think the knock sensor being unplugged will affect anything, same for the oil pressure switch... a friend of mine had a similar problem to this with his d16z6, but he wasnt the type to find out what was wrong so he loaded the "parts cannon" (wires, cap, rotor, plugs, fuel filter) and went to town. the last thing he replaced, cap and rotor watched him as he came across his loose distributor and the fact that it was laying all the way retarded as far as it would go. with all of these new parts on the car and finding that, re-timed and she ran perfect, but who knows what it actually was. Cover your bases and poke around, but remember if it were a sensor prob, most likely it would not go into VTEC. Oh and try to rev it past 7500 in neutral.

Re: hitting red line (redtegsr)
probably your vtec isn't working and it's losing power up there? vtec hits 4500 butterflys 5000 something im not sure. but if you run open header you can for sure hear vtec at 4500 if it is working.
