Default Higher Compression

currently, i have a sohc vtec motor sporting a mild 110whp. now, before i drop a grand on new rods, pistons, block gard, ect to raise the compression to 11.1. i want to know what kinda power to expect on the dyn?. i know its impossible to say exactly but im just looking for a ballpark figure.

and to all who will say "save your money and buy a b", i got one already.

thanks in advance

Going from 9.6:1 to 11.1:1 compression will yeild in about 10whp.

Why waste a grand? Get some flattop D15 pistons and drop those in.
PM3's to be exact. 11.1:1 compression in a D16Y8.

P2P (Y8) Pistons.

P03/PM3 Pistons

OR get stuipd with the PDN's (Civic GX)

better make you clay that motor. 88-95 non vtec valve reliefs do not match up with vtec valve spacing. i know plenty of people running it with it no problems but id do it anyway to be safe.

damm, i knew if anyone would reply, it would be you spade. thanks!

10whp, not what i was expecting to yield. witch d15 do i get the pistons from? i know 11.1:1 compression is going to use more gas but is it still streetable? how much more gas?

Not much more fuel....more compression...you need to use the higher octane fuels. 91+

I say 10whp because I am being soft.
And get the PM3/P03 pistons.....Take your pic from the D15B2, D15B7, or D15B8, do not use D15Z1 pistons as I don't have the specs on them and know that they are different.

Is a blockguard needed if you have around 11:1 in a y8? Thats what Im going to be running in my z6 head/y8 block setup with a6 pistons.

I wouldn't say king...I just like to try everything...lol.

I always say that you gain about 10whp for every 1 point in compression increase. Going from 9.6 to 11.1 is 1.5 compression points, so about 15 hp increase.

But with this added compression, you can take advantage with that with a cam, header, tuning, etc. It just allows all you other upgrades to be worth that much more.

The D16A6 or PM6 pistons have about -3cc's displacement to them, which won't be 11 to 1, so I would say stick with those B7's like what Spade said.

Stay OEM...much cheaper

Your brother said a6's would give me 11:1 in my build with the z6 head milled .020. I confirmed that with a compression calc, so it seems like the a6's with a y8 head would have higher than 11:1.....
