High Idle in Stop and Go Traffic D16Y7
Hello Everyone! I've got a 2000 Civic DX with the D16Y7 and a manual transmission 180K miles on it. About 3 years ago I installed a Rostra Universal Cruise Control Kit. The last two summers when I get stuck in heavy stop and go traffic, the car idle speed works itself up higher and higher until I can actually get out on open road and let it cool down. There's no tach in the car, but i have a bluetooth code reader with a tach on it that has gotten over 3000 rpm at idle. I've done some research so far and I think I have it narrowed down to some people having issues with their stock cruise cable sticking, so I've been in contact with Rostra to see if they have an answer, or the IACV being the other main cause of this problem. The engine on this car is completely stock. A couple people have said vacuum leaks are a possibility as well. As far as the IACV goes, is there a recommended "best practice" for how to clean it? and if there's a chance for vacuum leaks, where would those possibly be? I am definitely willing and able to do this cleaning and leak checking myself, but not sure where all these leaks could be. Any advice you could give me would be great. Thanks again!!
