Default High Comp pistons....A few questions

I have a 97 civic EX w/ a D16Y8 motor, and I have a few questions about high compression pistons....

I would be doing this in a few months, so no worries about when I need to get this figured out but here is my plan.

I want to go N/A. I have friends with turbo cars, and cars on the bottle. That is fun, but I want to be different, and I like N/A cars that are as fast as turbo'd and nitrous'd cars.

I was looking through a summit magazine and I saw 10.75:1 pistons (can't remember the brand) And I was just wondering a few things....

1.)What kind of other reinforcements would I need??
2.)What kind of power would I see from these??
3.)What octane gas would I have to get to avoid detonation??

I am really interested in the idea of a high compression, all motor, SOHC engine that might be able to take on some turbo'd cars etc. Does anyone here run a setup similar (doesn't have to be SOHC) I am interested to hear what you guys think of N/A cars.

Thanks!!!!!

those are d series OEM pistons.yes i said oem. they come from the 88-89 teg d16a1 motors. they fit d series engines, they are .050 overbore
http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net has them for about 36 bucks i believe for the piston alone. u need rings and wrist pins tho too. its all there. order them from the dealer. mini ctr's for hella cheap..lol.

think about getting the stock rods shotpeened if your on a budget. with some good arp rodbolts. have the assembly balanced.

oh yeah..many of the fast all motor sohcs i see..ditch the FI and run carbs. actually i see non vtec b18s respond well to carbs too. to make an sohc fast u pretty much gotta cover all the basis. a good nice big mean cam helps sohcs scream also.headwork is important too.

make a hybrid tranny like mr bone the d tranny guru has. i believe he is using a ex/si tranny case...retaining 1st and 2nd..but using 3rd 4th and 4th from the zc.

sohc is slept on...everyone says swap swap swap but it doesnt have to be like that. people say "why waste money on a sohc"..well that sounds ignorant like "why waste money on a lil 4 banger when u can get a v8". im not sure how good of a set up it would be a 97 ex. but in crx's and the lighter eg's..u can make sohcs fly.

its quite a bit off from the type of motor u want to build for the street, but bisi ezoriahs sohc non vtec crx all motor..does 10.93's. and dont say "that foo is 2.0 i read it in a magazine"..magazines are garbage. if u frequent the d series board. he discussed his motor. it all makes sense.
