Default HIDs question...

just picked up some hids in the 8k color which is the bluest tint. on my car however they actually look pure white, no blue tint what so ever. my friend has the same kit on his but actually has the blue tint that 8k is supposed to have.. only difference is i have 96/98 civic lights he has 99/00. was wondering if this makes a difference ?

the car doesnt change the color of the HID's. Sounds like maybe wrong packaging or something. Where did you buy them at? Either way HID's are nioce!

Sounds like they sent you the 4300k bulbs. BTW 10000k is the bluest color.

Well, when the HID bulbs start out they are in the blue tint its supposed to be. then as they warm up they become whiter. is there something that has to do with the power ratings or a fuse maybe ?

hmmm i have heard two things. the picture below shows 10k being purple? and the other shows 10k being deep blue? so it really is brand specific? thought the temperature thing was universal.

No way do the companies use the same temp all around. But "universally," 12000k is purple and 10000k is deep blue.

man it pisses me off every time I see a vendor selling so called hID's, time they learned the difference between a High Intensity Discharge and a ferking painted bulb with funny gas in it.

the reason real hid kits color changes when turned on is the bulb and ballast warming up. if they look totally off i would send them back and get what you paid for. i have 6k and love'em
