Default HID do it right thread?

My girl is getting me jdm headlights for christmas and I've really been considering getting them retrofitted with HID projectors. I've seen a HUGE 'HID do it right' thread, but I cannot find it. I searched for it, no luck.

The main thing I'm looking for, there was a link someone posted up, where apparently you could send your headlights there and they would retrofit them with HIDs and have them ready to wire up to your stock wiring, sound familiar to anyone? Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

hidtech is an ok company to get ur headlights retro. when hidforum.com was still up there was a long thread about how they sucked and how they mess some many people's headlights. not the cheapest place to get your headlights retro done. ask people on hidplanet.com what they think about hidtech.com and just go from there. i would ask alot of questions first before you decide where to send ur headlights to get retro. good luck.

I did some reading up on the HID Planet and saw some of the results with the retrofit and wow I'm amazed at the results. So amazed, I'm actually considering this project over the winter.

Just get projector headlights and get a HID kit...most projector headlights use h3..
Projectors....doesn't matter with HID or bulbs same effect..this is what you want...

I don't think brighter is what you should be going for. You have to be able to controll the beam pattern. HID's will be bright, period. No matter which kit you get. In order to do it right and control the pattern, you MUST retrofit a projector inside your headlight. It's either that, or get aftermarket projector headlights. Putting HID's in a reflective housing is just silly.

It was in regard to the headlight. The projector won't make it any HID or bulb "brighter," it will just control the light.

first off I believe you copied those pics from someone else - those projectors were RETROFITTED OEM HID PROJECTORS - in EK housings (at least the 1st pic)

second have you seen a HID KIT in the aftermarket projector housings (the ones that use h3 bulbs)? OUTPUT was ******* horrible!!!!! H3 projectors are really (originally) designed for foglights. Have you ever seen a cars (OEM) headlamps use H3 - no because they are for foglights. They cast the light everywhere & the cutoff is NOT level its way crooked like / /

I know from experience I had a H3 HID kit in my 97 hatch's projectors...results sucked ***

what you can do is buy the projectors then retrofit OEM HID projectors from another car (BMW, Mercedes, etc...)

DO MOT BUY AFTERMARKET PROJECTORS (H3 BULBS) and stick a H3 HID KIT & EXPECT GOOD RESULTS

I have seen better results from HIDs in TYC projectors (which use h1 - headlight bulbs) but they don't compare to REAL (retrofitted) OEM HID projectors

also if you wish to lose the flutted lenses (which disrupt cutoff & output) look into using the "euro clear lense" aftermarket headlamps as a starting point for your retrofit

yeah I know he did, because I have seen that pic in the HID thread...at in was a Retrofit HID kit . Anyways the cutoff on that is absolutely perfect in my opinion!
