2000 SiR 1/4 Mile times....Brutal?
My best freind's ride is a 2000 SiR(Si in USA) of which he loves to drag race on weekends. However, he's extremely mad at the car right now. His current mods at the moment are a CAI/H/E and his best ET to date is a 16.0 at 86 mph. Last weekend in the 88' heat he ran a best of 16.3. Needless to say he's pissed at his times and is having an Apex'i V-AFC controller installed next Tuesday to get him into the 15's. Are his times slow for a 2000 B16A equipped coupe? How much is that VTEC controller gonna help?

We tore out most of the sound deadening tar in his trunk, and he usually runs with no spare tire and full interior. As far as I know everything else is just like a normal Si. He's running a DC knockoff header(4-1, i think the header sucks personally), an AEM CAI and a generic fireball muffler with custom piping(high flow rezonator). I've heard that with those mods an Si should be in the 15's, but he's not, and he's pissed.

It should be in the 15's... But every car is different though... My friend ran a best of 15.7 in his Si with just a AEM CAI...

Re: 2000 SiR 1/4 Mile times....Brutal? (EVIL Hx Coupe)
That's pretty good, and also another reason he's mad is cuz his previous best was a 16.2 with just a short ram on it. Now he's added the extras and he's ran 16.0 twice, but on average is slower than his 16.2 that he posted previously without the header, cai or exhaust. Maybe the VTEC controller will get him in there. He's the only one in our city of 200,000 people to buy it.

ur friend shouldnt b pissed at his car he should b pissed at himself. fact is SIs run about 15.7 stock. so with a bad driver such as him 16 flat isnt too bad. so he had a short ram and ran 16.2 then spent another $800 or so on worthless mods that gained him hardly anything. i suggest he research what he buys and learn to drive the car. a VAFC wont do **** for him unless its tuned by wideband A/F guage or on the dyno. so there goes another $300 down the *******. with damn near almost stock car anyways id say that even the VAFC tuned isnt goin to give him much of anything. he sounds like a wanna b racer and in reality hes a ricer and since hes not man enough to admit that he cant drive hes gotta blame something other than himself. research is his friend, he should do some and use it wisely.

Where are you guys located?
Sounds like some really high place like Saskatchewan or something?
How old is the SiR? I think you need to look elsewhere for "power" try the clutch.... SiR clutches are notorious to be the biggest POS on the car....
we've gone 14.7 with stock internals + intake, header, testpipe, stock catback and no rear seats here in BC when the clutch was still freshy fresh.... with a best of 14.4x open header knocking off low 2.2x 60fts all day on fugged up Toyo T1 Plus (predecessor to the now T1S)

I've seen them run 16's around here. maybe its the driver.

Yes, you're correct, we do race here in Saskatoon at SIR where our elevation is 1700 feet. We're high, but not that high.
As for him being a bad driver, I don't think that's the real problem. He completed the BMW Driver Training School last summer, so he knows how to go around curves as well as a straight line.
His 60 foot times usually range from 2.37 to 2.42, depending on how much psi he's got in the fronts.

Whats with the high oct fuel??? how does that help a stock motor? I would think it would slow you down.

Re: 2000 SiR 1/4 Mile times....Brutal? (ciRcuitSi)
1700 feet above sea level. and it's not him, it's the car, cuz it's consistently bad. His best passes of 16.0 came 3 times in a row on the same day. He went out 2 weeks later to an evening race and was running 16.3's while losing to Integra LS's and D series Civic, he was ready to kill his car. So he's consistent, so is the car, but the engine is just all over the map from day to day.

theres definetly something wrong there, I ran a 15.5 with just my aem cai at the track the other day at fontana, and that was my first time at the track ! but its obviously wasnt my first run of the day , i ran a 16.0 first time. Then it just got better from there
