Hey guys, im lookin to get a Civic as a beater/car for my bro...what do u think of this?
I was gonna pick it up tomarrow if everything checked out OK.
Is there sumthin i should look out for on these SOHC babies? EI. stuff tahts prone to break/wear fast that i should check to see if its been replaced?

A beater is basically any car that you use as your daily driver, or really don't care about. I'm sure some big shot has a Viper as a beater car, or a Cobra as a beater car.

Um, ok. Im not asking for people's opinion about what "defines" a beater. I need a car to get me and my bro around w/out breaking down.
I know my h23 pretty well, but not the sohc d16's(?) i guess. More or less my bro picked this out, im just suppose to make sure its gonan last.
Now does anyone have anythin i should look out for when buyin this particular model?

just make sure the timing belt/water pump/fuel filter has been replaced atleast once, if not its due. Sounds like a decent deal if thats what your bro wants.

you can buy my friend's professionally built LS/VTEC hybrid (red EG hatch) for 6K..
he's selling it for that much..
it's a really good car, with lots of mods. i don't have the link for his sale thread. but if you PM me i can give you his AIM screen name.
it's a really good deal IMO (i don't have 6K.. so i can't buy it), so check it out. he has all the info.

yo, get a 92-95 civic
they are SO reliable,
if you do the regular maintenence as said in the manual.. then I really think it can run forever

not older civics,
its just I have had experience with the 92-95's.
I wouldnt expect the same reliability out of 91- civics though,
12+ years of age takes its toll.
i'd expect the same reliability from 96-2000 civics though...
but the latest models seem really cheaply made in comparison.
however honda is still honda.. they really dont mess around when it comes to reliability

Buy him a WRX and put it on a lease. Its qualifys as a beater and it comes with a warranty.
Cost about 27000 to 30000 g's is all.
