Hesitation, Studdering, and then it works fine....
So recently Ive had this misfire/studdering/hesitation problem and I can't seem to pinpoint it. It all started after I had an emissions test done. The guy that did it did not know how to drive manual AT ALL. he kept updhifting at 1500 rpms causing the engine to be under incredible load at 400 rpms. YOU CANT SHIFT AT THAT RPM!!!!!
So anyways. after I pass the test with flying colors, I pay and all that and head home. Immediatly I notice something wrong. My car is lacking in power and It seems to be missing throughout the entire driving range. so after I get it home I decide to do some tests to see whats up.
1) check my plugs, check gap, all fine
2) check wires, all within allowances
3) I take off the cap and rotor and see that they are horribly burned, and not to my surprise, are NOT Honda parts (got this car off my friends mom in 2003). so the next day I get a new cap and rotor, put em on and the car seems to be running a bit better. Then as its running and im looking at **** it just shuts off. and now it wont start back up.
expletive!
ok whatever. I only live 2 blocks from work so I'll just give it some time. Meanwhile I check the ICM and the Coil. Bad Coil. So 2 weeks later after some more funds are in place I order a new one from MajesticHonda.com.
Put it on the car. ITS ALIVE!!! only its still doing it a bit. but not nearly as bad as it was. Check the timing (I have a light this time) its a little off. heres a pic.
The white mark is the TDC mark and according to my Haynes the Red mark is 16 degrees BTDC.
So I adjust the timing and now it sits just to the left of the red mark. BUT its still hesitating and all that.
My theory is that whatever the problem actually is caused the original Ignition Coil to go bad so I'm not gonna drive it until I can get it fixed 100%.
So chime in and lemme know whatcha think.
Thanks in advanced guys.

The timing belt and everything around it is fine. good tensioner. not too much give on the belt. nice and tight, but not too tight...lol.
anyways. i think im gonna take it to a honda dealer and let them diagnose it for me so then i can fix it.
