Hesitation/ Misfire

Hesitation/ Misfire
'93 DelSol S. (150K) Put on a rebuilt head 16 months ago and recently noticed a hesitation or what seemed like a misfiring. (really a pain when trying to cut into traffic) I found oil filling the tubes up on #2 and #3. I replaced the upper tube seals on the valve cover but that didn't stop the "flooding." I then replaced the lower seals and that seems to have done the trick. (so much for a rebuilt head - the small seals were as brittle as could be) ANYWAY, I'm still getting the hesitation. It's at take off and sometimes during a cruise at 45-50mph. Replaced the fuel filter (unknown age). Cleaned PCV up. Looked for vac leaks. Also, no check light at all. Just have run out of "tries".
I'm thinking new plugs and wires next but I thought best to check with you all before I start to just throw parts at it.
Any other suggestions as to what I might look at? Many thanks in advance.

checking your mechanical and electrical timing would be a good idea and valve clearances too.

Do a power balance (drop) test on it by disconnecting spark plug wires one at a time. While first lifting the spark plug wire off the plug listen for spark quality..hold it in that position of need be to get a good listen. Then lift the spark plug wire a bit further and listen for idle to drop..if idle doesn't drop there's an issue in that particular cylinder. Also, each cylinder should drop the same (or very close to) compared to the rest of the other cylinders. Do a dry compression test and wet (one teaspoon of oil) compression test if a cylinder is low.
Another way to check spark quality is with an HEI spark tester. The problem with these is they will allow a weak ignition coil to pass a spark test whereas testing spark by using a spark plug + wire close to a solid ground will cause a weak coil to fail and a healthy coil to pass the test. A weak coil failing this test is a good thing in this case because it could very well be the source of your engine's issue.

Re: Hesitation/ Misfire
Thanks Tamboo for the leads and Magalodong for the primer on plug/coil test. Scheduled to spend time on it tomorrow. I'll post results. Base ----
