Default Hesitation on a d16y8...from tech days...this is killing me...

Okay, i have the 99 d16y8 in a 97 hx, with a 98 ex ecu. The y8 came from an auto so the iacv was on the tb. To get past this we installed the hx IM and EM and Dist. Was running it on the hx ecu at first till i got the 4 wire o2 hooked up.

Anyway, got the o2 hooked up and no codes on the ex ecu except for the knock sensor. Had bad hesitation wouldn't go over 80 without really being pushed(timing would cut back).

Well I got my KS hooked up and all the codes were gone, but the hesitation was still there, at low rpms then would be fine to about 80 then still cut back. No codes tho. This was sat, now monday morning, i have the primary o2 code again? WTF?!?!

I had hesitation in the low rpms (below 3k) in my 95 cx. my problem was old spark plugs. Check your cap, rotor, and plugs. I wasn't getting an ecu code though. Maybe a bad ecu? Try someone elses. hope I helped!

next step would be to check the plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor. is your air filter clogged by any chance?

try putting in a new cat. I had the same problem, turns out my cat was clogged. changing the plugs, wires, and fuel filter should help too.

would a bad cat cause a primary o2 code? I just installed a new 4 wire last weekend
