help Wong with Intake installation.
I've searched and found out that most all d16z6 to d16y8 are compatibile. So i was installing a d16z6 intake on a d16y8 and wondered what the thing the yellow arrow is connecting to?I tried plugging it into the insertion in the intake tube, and it does not fit. can any one help wong?

Some sort of sensor. (I'm having a brain fart right now)
My intake came with 2 holes (One for the Breather and nother for that sensor) It had like a rubber thingy where I could put it. Doesn't look like yours has it... I suppose you could cut a space and put a rubber something in there with a hole so it could stay?

Looks liek the IAT sensor not sure, it wont fit in that aftermarket intake piping unless u drill a hole, that hole where its facing is for the PCV vacuum hose

that is your air intake temp sensor. It would help if it was connected. when cold air is present it will make your car run richer. When hot air is present it will run leaner. The reason you don't have a hole on the intake is because the d16z6 has it on one of the intake runners. I would drill a hole and squeeze the sensor in.

whatever he said, but if you do that you will restrect the air flow. I would just leave it in the cold section of the engine bay.

not really but if you just leave it in a cold spot then your car will run rich when it is not suppose to and it will leave more carbon deposits. i would not do that

AEM intakes have the holes drilled and have rubber grommets to keep it inside...u can just drill the hole urslef...if u leave it in the engine bay it may cause ur car to run lean...i sugest u get it fixed... my two cents

correct. d16z6's have the IAT in the intake manifold while the y8 has it in the intake arm. my AEM intake has an extra hole for the IAT sensor, but also comes with a plug to block the hole if the intake is being used ona z6.

*or* you could just drill a hole in the one you have right now and mount the sensor with a rubber grommit. save yourself $70 but it's up to you

Re: help Wong with Intake installation. (jerbear!)
it's not good to use a breather filter on the valve cover. the hose from the intake to the valve cover is there for a reason: it creates negative pressure on the valve cover to reduce pressure and suck out blow by gases from inside the head.
