HELP!! trunk wont unlock.

HELP!! trunk wont unlock.
The trunk on my del sol wont unlock when im trying to unlock it with the key from the outside. I can hear it making some kind of a clicking noise but its like its not catching. I can still open it with the trunk release inside the car but it would be nice to not have to do all of that just to get into the trunk. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this??? TIA

the bar is probably loose, the one that goes from the key mechanism to the latch. My civic wouldn't open from the key, only the inside, so i removed that bar. Also, it's just held on by a little friction clip, that could be broken.
