help with the tar thing
I noticed the post to remove the sound dampening tar from a hatch. I would assume it to be mostly the same for my 5th gen civic coupe but i would like to know if anyone could tell me how to remove the rearseats from my car and if there is any difference when removing the carpet. Is there this tar in the trunk also? if so what i can probably get the lining out pretty easy, but is there anything i need to know about it before i just tear into it? help a noob out

my car is not a hatch and i am pretty sure it would be different taking the back seat from my car. what he offers is for a hatchback. I no its at least not exactly the same because the first thing you do with the hatch is pull the release pins. I do not have those.

To remove your rear seat fold it down and at the bottom pull the carpet up at the corners and you will see 6 10mm bolts, take those out and your seat will come out. The only difference when you remove your carpet is alot more noise and about 3 pounds extra weight. There might be tar in your trunk i am pretty sure there is. Honda puts it from the trunk all the way up under the pedals under the carpet.

in the trunk you dont have to to remove your rear seat, just lift it away to see the bolts. The trunk carpet is attacted to your rear seat. And to get the tar in the rest of the car you are going to have to remove all the carpet. So you are going to have to remove the front seats and your center console And the carpet is held in by those little plasit panels when you open the door and a couple clips under the dash, and under the rear seat. Was that your question?
