Default help speedometer issues

When I drisve the car and go maybe 20+ MPH I notice that I see the needle go in a counter-clockwise direction and jumps to 100 MPH and stays there. When the car is stopped, the needle is under the black thing that sticks out near the 0 MPH. Is this normally a cluster issue which i have to replace? and the cel doesn't come on. thx.

Its probably your cluster. If thers no codes its not your speed sensor.

How does it get over the black pin in the first place? When the car is off, is the needle above the black pin or below it?

the needle is below the black pin, it used to stay above the black pin but after i drove it on the freeway and the needle jumped to 120 mph it's been stuck below the pin ever since.

Sorry, that's just some funny ****. Try a new cluster man. And I'm just curious, are you saying the needle goes backwards?

lol sorry I'm just picturing that in my head and it looks funny. I don't really know how the speedometers work, if it's cable or electrical or what. But have you messed with any wiring or cables lately?

nope, didn't mess with anything. I laugh too when I see that happens, just makes my car feel unique.

lol yeah, I think it would be funny to sell for cheap on ebay and hear their comments after they install it lol.

I suppose it would be a bit of a problem driving the speed limit. Good to know what speed is at what rpm in each gear BTW, 45mph @ 2000rpm @ 5th gear, 65mph @ 3000rpm @ 5th gear on my car. I might be off on the second, it's either 60 or 65, can't remember I've only had the car a month or two.

My VSS went bad before, there was no code.

Roll the odometer back if you like, but you don't have to. It is something I would tell a person if you sell the car later down the road.

Just move the needle all the way back and see if it does it again.

mine does the same thing. when i did the TYPE R light conversion i just took off the clear plastic cover that is over the guages. so when it does it now i give it a good flick right on the center of the speedo and it pops right where it should be. it will pis u off for a while but eventually it wont become that big of a deal.... at least it hasnt with me. i just know how fast im going according to RPMS @what gear.
