Help solve my rattle!
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this rattle, I can't figure it out and it is really bugging me.
Sound: Imagine a coin vibrating on top of metal... At around 3k rpms that is what I hear. It is pretty loud.
Location: I haven't been able to pinpoint it, but it is either coming from the rear of my driver's side door, or from the pillar that houses the seatbelt mechanism.
I torn off the trim (PITA w/ rollbar) and unskinned the door, but found nothing. When hitting the body of the car the only thing that made noise was the seat-belt mechanism (slight rattle, could have been it) so I padded that with a lot of paper towels (yay ghetto fix), but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm assuming SOMEONE has experienced this same rattle and fixed it... If you haven't, don't bother replying as I've tried every diagnosis trick...

Re: Help solve my rattle! (Mike C)
dude U sure have alot of posts. anyway, it MIGHT sound like its coming from the rear pillar, but it could be your suspension, honda bodys are thin and pin pointing sounds can be tricky
diagram of shocks <-- I would replace those rubber seals and use silicone spraym they are only a couple dollars.
diagram of lower control arm
as far as teh body, there isnt much that can rattle behind the pillar Pillar diagram
try to remove the seat belt completely just to eliminate the pillar, then check the suspension.

definately not the suspension... it is either from the pillar (seat belt mechanism area) or the rear of my driver's door. if nobody comes up with anything i guess pulling the seat belt is the best bet... just such a PITA w/ rollbar. i hate cars
thanks though.

Re: (Mike C)
Oh I thought U meant the back pillar. u mean the one for the driver seatbelt. yeah I say drive without the seatbelt to see if thats it, also pull both driver and passenger skins and look for any lose metal (coins, screws whatever) obviously there is some loose metal to metal contact somewhere.
