HELP!!! Smoke out tailpipe. Any ideas????
hey i have an 89 civic hb with a d series motor. anyways the car blew out this huge puff of smoke yesterday on the freeway when i reached about 110 mph, but never did it again when i stayed at 80. also i got into town and put my foot in it a few times up to 7000 rpm and no smoke. the injectors have been making a lot of noise lately. please help. oil pump? injectors? cracked seals? thanks for your time

what color was the smoke??
a whitish bluish smoke probably means bad O rings.. burning oil my friend.

if it was just white smoke you were probably running lean, but that's just a possibility. If you plan on doing that often, you might want to invest in some sort of fuel controller(Apexi S-AFC, Fields,etc..), just to make sure the engine is getting proper amount of fuel for each gear.

well it was a bluish colored smoke i think. it was dark not white, but i have dark tinted windows and was watching the road. i have a fuel pressure regulator on the car too. so dark blue smoke is what i think it was.
