Default HELP!!! SCHA is loose

so puttin together my S80 tranny backtogether and I notice my SCHA has some play to it, it’s bolted down and aligned with the shifting forks but with enough effort it can come undone. Is this normal? Will the housing hold it together?

for those of us that don't typically go that deep.... what's a SCHA
come undone from the shift fork or the case?

likely to get more accurate response in this sub-forum --> transmission and drivetrain

The outer case should hold the shift selector in place, but make sure it's all lined up before the case is bolted down. You should never have to pull both halves together with the bolts.
