i know how to pull the climate control and i have replaced the other lights in the cc in the past but never the button lights.

There are only 2 bulbs. They can be seen from the back side. I use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the little sockets out of the cilmate controls. Replace bulbs, snap the sockets back in, reinstall.

^^ i was actully thinking that it may be easier.. i pulled mine out his morning and looked at it and played with it for a little while, and it looks like its going to be a bitch...
i have another question, the climate control seems like it wont switch between the legs or defrost on any, almost like its stock on defrost... could this be a issue with the climate control or the heater core?
thanks

Yea I would say just to replace the cc might be easier an besides if you do try it your self you run the risk of messin it up (not sayin you will) an havin to get a new/used one anyways lol
I have a similiar question an don't mean to hijack but in my 95 coupe just my button lites work is this the same fix as the 96-00 eks with just 2 bulbs? Sucks at nite tryin to see which selection I want lol
Good luck with the lites an if you do figure it out do a write up if you can

^^ i belive they are just a 2 light bulb thing, but dont quote me on that, maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can chime in.
im not really worried about messing up things, more just getting pissed off and saying f it.
i may end up just grabbing a new one, and ripping the old one apart and see if i can figure it out, if so, yes there may be a write up in the works.

Replace the unit same thing happened in my old e30's. Replacing the bulbs is hard to do if you have no patience
