help! pushing coolant into overflow tank 96 civic
so I put a head gasket on my girls 96 civic ex, i bled the system for about an hour an a half to two hours last night with the front end jacked up as high as my jack would go. but this car is still pushing coolant into the overflow with the radiator cap on and sometimes even out the cap too if motor is revved hard enough. also still get air bubbles without the cap off and it pushes the coolant out the radiator if revved hard enough, do i just need to keep bleeding the system? or is there another problem?

it was gurgling and pushing coolant into the overflow, and it did overheat 2 times before but didn't start pushing coolant till about a month after the last overheat. im thinking the head could be warped too cause i dont see how after 2 hours of bleeding that it still has air

It sounds like you still have a problem and its most likely a warped head based on what you are describing. Check your old head gasket for any runs in the gasket material to indicate where the leak/warpage occurred. The engine definitely shouldn't be pushing coolant back into the overflow tank when you are bleeding it out.

I assume you did not take the head to a machine shop to check it first? Did you follow the proper torque specs in the service manual?

well if just boiling out into the overflow and you had over heating problems before it may be that the water pump is not moving any water I would look into getting a new water pump because this is exactly what it sounds like

If the water pump isn't moving any water, how is water being pushed into the overflow? Why would the coolant be bubbling?

if the coolant can not move it will just sit in one place and boil thus pushing in to over flow and bubbling
