hey guys,

i drove my 97 civic ex yesterday and it was fine. i went to band today, and it had a hard time starting, harder than usual. and on the way the tach and speedo stopped working, like went to 0 and then came back, and the dash lights dimmed a little too. so i get to band and finish it, then i try to start it again and it barely starts, same thing whiole driving with tach and speedo, i get back to the dorm. and turn the car off, and try to start it again, it wont turn over more than once. and now it sounds like the battery is dead. any ideas? thansk guys

Dead battery, it wont hold a charge, or your alternator is dieing.

Correct. It seams like alot of Honda tech'ers this week are having alt/batt problems.

yeh, my thoughts too, anyway to tell between dead battery or bad alternator? ima go ahead and get a new battery, then go from there.

Alot of places will check for free or for like $10... I think sears does it for $10

Bad alternator = jump the car and check the voltage output should be 14V or higher

Bad battery = check should be over 11.5 volts and when you start the car it should be higher then 10V

Kraegan Auto Parts check your battery and even charges your battery for free. You should start by doing that and go from there.
