help please question about rings
i know i was getting blow by alot in my number 1 and 2 cylinders. i pull the motor apart and took pistons out today.. now the question what do i look for to see if there was alot alil any blow by at all??? how do i know if my piston rings are good?? can someone post some pictures up or something help

seat the ring back in the cylinder and measure gap. then measure roundness, check thickness, and also the general condition of the ring.
procedures are outlined in helms or in any engine building book.

Would have been easier if you had simply done a compression and leak down test before taking the head off, to know if rebuilding was really warented.
but since its already apart..

leak down is where the cylinder is sealed and you blow air into the cylinder and see how much is retained in the cylinder. there is a gauge for this and some compression testers have this function as well. building an engine, especially a honda (if you want it to last for a while) is not something i recommend for people who don't have much experience. the problem is that if you assemble things using the wrong methods, procedures, or tools, you may end up with a very poorly balanced engine. in addition, if your tolerances are all off a little with each component, you will tolerance stack and end up with a big tolerance problem at the end if you don't have the right tools to measure.
