HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!! P28 OBD1 Check engine light...where do i hook up the reader?
I did a mini me swap on my 93 dx and it runs great but has a check engine light on. When I start it after it ahs sat for a while, it idles around 2500-3000 and occasionally revs up then down by itself. It sound slike there is some sort of vacuum thing going on also. I went down to the local auto store that lets you plug in the computer to get the codes, but we can't figure out where to plug it in at. I have an obd1 p28....any thoughts???????????

OBD2 systems are the ones you plug a scan tool into, since you are OBD1, you dont have the DLC port. you find it yourself, you dont need a scan tool.
go here, and it will tell you how to get the code(s).....

Start off by creating your own thread, and not bumping a 5 year old dead one. Second, there's a CEL sticky - read it.

There should be a green or whit plug that is extra next to your ecu. When you find it you need to jump the wires but using anything from a paperclip to a piece of stereo wire. Make sure the car is on an running. The check engine light should blink. Long blinks are ten and short blinks are 1. So then when you read your check engine light and add up what number the blinks are then look for those on the obd1 ecu fault codes list, this should help you solve your problem. Could be idle air control valve tho.
