help please? clunk noise while shifting
I have a 2000 civic and today i was driving and i was starting from a stop and it sort of clunked in to gear from first to second. It sort of felt like when your about to stall your car but i know it wasent about to stall i even did it with more gas just to make sure and the same result. Im not dumping the clutch Im easing in to it. Then about 30 minutes later it stops and is driving normal and about 10 minutes after that it starts again. Im thinking either tranny or clutch issues? But what could it be?
Also i have a boosted b18 in my car and my friend was driving behind me and i got on it and in WOT he saw smoke is this from running rich he said it was grey/black so its not coolant.. oil? Im not sure
thanks in advanced!!

Now you have a clunking noise? Did you ever pull the codes from this thread?

They may be trying to tell you something.
As for running rich. Get it re-tuned. But first pull the codes.

yeah i put 89 oct in it last fill up and after that it hasn't blown smoke and runs optimal, i thought you were supposed to run 91-93 though?

I had a similar problem and replacing the clutch and TO bearing solved the problem. My guess was the noise was caused by grease loss from the TO bearing, though I'm not absolutely sure.
As mentioned, also check all the motor mounts.

Re: help please? clunk noise while shifting
My 2nd gear synchro has never liked to be rushed. Sometimes it grinds, other times it clunks if I shift too fast. Might be something else to look out for.

yeah i was thinking maybe TO bearing but wouldnt that effect all gears? maybe syncro or motormounts? it has to be in that area because otherwise its smooth.. would the mounts be not stiff enough?

Re: help please? clunk noise while shifting
i think i found the problem.. a piece cracked off my bell housing where the clutch is so i can actually see the disc and teeth.. like i said its not grinding it but i think when i shift it might be catching that little opening then slamming in like its supposed to..
Okay i figured it ment running rich since its only at wot lol
my other issue is oil from my oil feed/filter or cooler is leaking.. cant tell which one i think its my feed line
