Receding roofline...

My 96 coupe has been without its motor for the past 6 months or so and Ive found that I have little or no time to drop in its replacement. I have the stock motor as well as the motor from a 94 ex. Could anyone give me some clue as to how much it would cost to troubleshoot the y7 and drop it back in? Also, if anyone knows any good shops around Tacoma, Washington, that would be a big help as well. Also, if youre gonna be a smart ***, youre better off just keepin your mouth shut. Thank you.

Not trying to be a dick, but we can't estimate troubleshooting prices on something that we know nothing about. Why was the stock engine pulled? What was wrong with it? What symptoms did it have? Were you planning a swap? Etc.

im in the army and my unit has been preparing to go to the big sandbox, so no time. ok, problem: i was racing a silverado ss down the freeway, beat his *** only to begin losing power about a half mile down the road. i start to pull over, then i lose all power. it cranks back over, but with some hesitation. at this point i get the car onto the shoulder, pop the hood, and notice that theres almost no oil in it whatsoever. i have a guy my sister recommended tow the car to his shop and hes very quick to say that i threw a rod and he could do nothing for it. so i tow the car up to fort lewis, throw it in the auto craft shop, tear out the motor and have a couple buddies look at it. they both agree that most likely all i did was blow the head gasket. this is my problem.

It's nearly impossible to diagnose an engine that is not inside the car.

If they think you simply blew a head gasket, then put another one on and reinstall the engine.

If you blew a headgasket then the oil should be mixing with the coolant, and it will look like a milkshake. Your car would have overheating too - did it?

If you blew a rod out then the engine would sound like **** when trying to spin it over - did it?

The story is to vague to even begin to try and help you out. I'm ot being a smartass either, just being truthful.

thanks for the info. this all happened so long ago those were the only details i could remember. however, if i recall, i believe there was more coolant in the catch reservoir than there was in the radiator itself.
