Help with piston size !? :p
Hi guys I just resived my ycp vitaras piston and the size is 75mm will that the ok if im going to rebild my d16 turbo because a guy said to me that i should go a with a Slightly bigger piston But i already have my piston :p lol
Will my 75mm vitaras Be fin ?

Not really necessary to go larger unless the cylinders are slightly out of round. If that is the case you'll have to get the cylinders overbored. At least that's what everyone keeps saying. I get my Vitaras in next week so we'll see.

i did the same thing i bought wiseco pistons though. i bought 75mm pistons and re honed the cylinders,gapped the rings and installed them in my stock d16. i just puts 2000 miles on my build . no smoke everything is good. hardest part and longest process with the build was notching the block and girdle.

i have not tuned it yet i just rebuilt it myself maybe 2 months ago. i have been just breaking my motor in just on my previous stock tune. also i have a wideband and have been monitoring my afr's and they are pretty close to the same as before. i have a ported and polished head and was milled so much i had to advance my cam gear 5 degrees. so my compression is pretty close to stock from using the compression calculator(my pistons were about 1/16th from the deck height). id like to buy a bisi 2.4 turbo cam before i throw it on the dyno. i haven't been running it hard just a few hard pulls commuting on 10psi. im looking to max my gt28r out. i wish i had the funds for a gt30r.
this was also my first build of my own as long as you research pay attention to detail you will not any problems building your own first build as well. You have to start somewhere. endyne has a great writeup on block notching. when notching i advise using a carbide bit for aluminum to get the majority of the material off then i used grinding stones to fine tune and finish it up.

it's better to get a bigger sized piston. at least get a 75.5mm. cause then you know that the pistons sit nice and tight.

as grumblemarc said no need for 75.5mm pistons if ur just honing the cylinders yourself and they are not out of round. you can not fit a 75.5mm in a stock bore the PWC(piston to wall clearance) will be too tight and when it heats up its gonna sezie your motor up. you want bigger ring gaps for running high boost as well because of this heat expansion.
