Help..p0505 code
Hi, I know some of u guys are gonna say look up p0505 threads, which I did and followed most if not all of the steps on some of the threads but I still keep getting that dreadfully heinous CEL. Ok heres my situation and what I did so far and what the symtoms are when it occurs. Ok I have a 2000 civic ex(5spd). CEL pops up when the car is in idle only(stoplights, etc, no rpm surging up and down). In first gear when I accelerate the engine jerks and hesitates and sputters (which is embarassing when your with a chick) and once the rpm reaches 3k and up then it'll run like ok..only in low rpms will the car sputter, including 2 to 3 gear, so everytime I shift, I always let the rpm ride higher than normal before I shift gears. If I shut off the car and restart it..the sputtering will go away until I let it idle again for a short peroid of time. Everytime I cleared the p0505 code..it'll pop back up again..Ok here's what I did so far, I cleaned the TB+ IM with that IM spray..took off the TB and scraped the inside with a brush, checked out my IACV,(thought it was bad at first so I got me a used one from a buddy and put it on)..I did that IACV unplug test, when I unplug the IACV plug..the rpm drops a little, then when I plug it in..the rpm jumps a little back to normal, bled all the air from the coolant system, checked my ect..coolant temp is okay, checked for vacuum leaks(none), oh yeah and checked my timing which is at 18 degrees if that helps..the next thing I think it might be is the pcv valve going out?? Because engine vacuum is highest at idle and if a pcv valve is opening up..then wouldn't too much crankcase gas cause the engine to sputter? Another thing I think it might be is my evap purge valve might be leaking? But if it was..wouldn't an CEL for evap purge solenoid pop up? I'm straight up confused right now and if I had hair..it would of been all pulled out by now...and I'm think I might have a little of Tourette symdrome now. Thanks for looking and msg back if you need more info.

Re: Help..p0505 code
Ive had issues like this before. I found it to be related to a vaccum leak that was causing a misfire of some sort, that was based upon the fact that more air was getting in than the MAP sensor was reading for, therefore, at low speeds / rpm's, the throttle wouldnt read for under like 10% throttle, and until 3k rpms, it ran like crap. Try looking for a vacuum leak, thats what experience i have with this.

Where was the vacuum leak at on yours? Because I've replaced new IM/TB gasket and checked for leaks around the IM/head gasket. All of my hoses are checked for cracks and I sprayed carb cleaner around it with engine running, I'll give it a try again...can a bad malfunctioning pcv valve cause a vacuum leak?
