HELP! O2 sensor problem! ASAP
Ok, I bought an O2 sensor from a member on this board, the transaction went smoothly and all, and when I tried to put it in, I was hit by a unexpected turn of events.
This is the plug I received.
However, the clip that the O2 sensor is supposed to plug into is ALSO A MALE PLUG. This leaves me with two male plugs and a lot a grief. Now, the seller says hes positive that O2 sensors are male plugs. Why is mine different?
Car- 99 Civic EX, Converted to OBD-I for Hondata use. Throwing a Code 1. Do D-series engines have different O2's than B-series? Did the guy before use a harness on the sensor when he converted to OBD-I? Do some Honda O2 sensors come in "female" style?
I need this issue resolved. I only have one day off of school and work every other week, so im on a very slim time table here.

Re: HELP! O2 sensor problem! ASAP (inline4)
So all B and D are male plugs then? If so, my next question would be: Why on earth do I have a male plug O2 wire harness?

I've used accord harness' to make an extension for my civic... d series...
The plugs are identical... not specifically sure if hte male/females are swapped... but they are the same plugs on lots of the models.
It all depends on how many wires your o2 has. Not what engine you have.
*EDIT*
Also I belive depending on the B or D they have different plugs...
For example the e-vtec one's have a 5 wire o2. where as my z6 has a 4 wire... I believe at least some models have a simple 2 wire o2.
So... NO b/d are not neccisarily the same and f/h aren't neccisarily different.

How was that sold to you? IE what did he SAY it was.
That could be a secondary O2 sensor or from a model where the ends are swapped...
I'd guess it was from a 2 o2 car so that you don't plug the wrong o2 sensor into the wrong bodyside harness. and it's the secondary o2.

I was told it was a OEM replacement O2 for a 96+ civic. Nothing more, I assumed he knew I was talking about the primary, as I told him it was converted to OBD-I. I have yet to check it out and see if its a secondary O2. Ill go back to the shop and get it sorted out.
So, you have used an accord harness to extend the harness, and becuase of that you ended up with a harness with a male end? This car has been nothing but a load of headaches getting all the little details sorted out.
EDIT- Im f-ing retarded, with an aftermarket header, he would have had to extend the harness from the stock d-series location to its current b-pipe location. Hence, he would have had to use a extension harness....so I probably need a accord sensor. *slaps head*
EDIT AGAIN- Just talked to previous owner of car. He tells me an extension is only nessecary other models, the EX models had the O2 sensor on the b-pipe from the factory. So, there goes that idea.
