help a newb install power locks into 94 dx coupe...wiring
first and foremost i've searched and looked at the FAQ thread, with no help. the only problem with archiving content is that links and pictures users post become outdated. mostly links.
i bought this micro keyless entry/power lock system off ebay, and it's very nice. however, i followed this faq to install. however my actuators are hit by the window when i try to roll it down. this isn't a huge problem, i can figure out a way to relocate them so they won't be in the way. the real problem is the wiring. i don't know how to do it.
main power: red--connect to constant 12v, reccomended direct connection to battery.
...how do i do this? just run the wire through the firewall and stick it under the positive battery clamp? that doesn't seem logical, and i don't know how to get past the firewall anyway.
+12v switched ignition: yellow--positive 12v when starter is cranking. located in steering column harness.
+12v parking light output: white--12v to parking lights only. don't connect the headlight wire or the unit will be damaged (?). vehicles with independent left/right systems must use relay (part# 5001). (?)
...couldn't i connect this to the hazards switch?
starter disable: orange--starter solenoid, usually in steering column harness. +12v only when starter is cranking. must be cut and connected to a relay.
i've been looking through my giant eg manual and i can't figure out which wires i'm supposed to connect these to, and i don't really know anything about relays. any help is appreciated
