Default Help the new guy

Hello everyone. My parents just bought me a year 2000 honda civic. But this one guy at work with a camero keeps making fun of it and says i should put stickers on it to make more horsepower. I'm not sure how that is supposed to help make power. My car feels pretty quick so i'll race him one day like he wants to do. I saw a honda once that had a big metal spolier on the trunk lid and i want to get one. Is there a good place to pick one of those up cheap? I don't make alot of money since i only work part time at long john silvers because of school. Also, i heard that if i put 13 inch wheels on my car it will be even faster. Is this true? That what the guy with the camero was telling me.

first of all do not race the camaro cause you will get ur *** handed to you. secondly if you get one of those big metal wings on the back i will slap you myself.thirdly only parts make horsepower not stickers. how does a sticker make your car faster? it doesnt!!!

you obviously don't know anything about cars, so read some books or something and save your money for when you actually know what your doing, until then stick to uncle bens rice, much healthier

ok ill be nice.

YOUR HONDA CIVIC IS NOT THAT FAST. it gets great gas mileage etc etc, yes it has some nice pep to it but if its an automatic its really slow. if its a manual its still slow. i admit i drive a slow car but with a couple bolt ons ur car will sound a bit faster n be a bit slower but itll still be SLOW. until you actually do a motor swap your car wont take the camerooOo. b16 w/turbo, gsr w/super charge, b18 turbo w/e. its okay, some of us start out as RICERS before we become unridiculous honda owners.

oh yeah i HAD 13 in wheels on my car, handling sucked *** lol.

I admit i don't know much about cars. This is my first one, so i'm just kind of talking to people learning as much as i can. I guess i won't race that camero. I don't like the wheels that are on it that's why i was asking about the smaller wheels. I want to get some but i'll probably just get some of those wheel covers at autozone instead i saw them for sale last week there.

If you want to do something productive with your civic, leave it alone for now. Don't spend your money at the parts store buying retarded stuff like LED squirter lights, metal spoilers, tire valve lights and neons. Don't buy a damn thing until you have enough to get something big. The mistake most people make is they buy all the little things that do nothing, not even make you feel good. Save 3000 for a new set of wheels and suspension, or use it to do a swap. Don't bother spending a little here and a little there until you have something to really build on. Is your civic a stick or auto?

Tell the guy with the Camaro to race someone who consumes as much gas as he does...because that Honda will spank his *** so hard the bowtie will fall of his trunk.

It's an automatic. I've already got the lights on the valve stems. The light up when the tire spins. My girlfriend bought them for me. I don't think i'll have enough to pay for a motor swap. Maybe one day i will. I'll pass on telling him i get better gas miliage, that seems kind of gay. I don't really think i need to do a motor swap because mine seems to be running alright. It's fast too, i raced some guy in a ford escort and beat him pretty good. I was a little faster than me when we started racing but once we got on the highway i was able to pass him, he couldn't go as fast as i could.

Dont compare yourself to a ford escort. I wouldnt work with an auto, doesnt have the potential IMO. But if you want you can try your handling first. Such as lighter wheels, and some nice tires. Get some new suspension parts. Do ALOT of searching on here, and cardomain.com. You could do some minor but decent bolts ons. Like a CAI, or exhaust. Take some pictures so we know what your working with.

spend your money to make the car look nice and feel good to you. don't worry about the camaro, wheels, suspension, body parts, there are many things you can do to an automatic civic.
everyone has their style, if your is rice...enjoy.

you seem to be a new driver and new to cars, that is if you're serious. its just kinda hard to believe someone is that.. how do i put it nicely... nieve. so anyway if you're serious. don't mess with the car and trade it in for somthing fast when you get some money. if you screw with it it'll destroy the resale value. OR invest a few bucks in some books and TECH magazines(not superstreet or import tuner or some ****) and learn what you're doing. you have a good starting platform. if you want to persue modding a civic, don't touch it until you know what you're getting into. ppl with big wings and spinner hubcaps make us look bad, don't do that. i hope you take my advise and stay away from the rice. thank you and have a nice day

this is probably why camaro boy is picking on you. I'm sure you're girlfriend had good intentions, but those won't get you anywhere with the modified crowd. The best advice I can give you is to search this site for things you can do to your car while you save money. Focus on performance parts, not cosmetic parts, and you'll get more help from the H-T crowd. By the time you have enough $ for something decent, you'll have a better idea of what you are doing.
