HELP! NEW BUILD LOW COMPRSSION
This motor is a ls\vtec. Everything is new and was pu together by a shop around my old neighborhood. well i ran a compression check after the motor would not start .... all wiring has been checked. all the cyclinders read below 80.
suck as 60 80 90 70. what could the problem be.... i was thinking head gasket but i am unsure

sounds like possibly your timing is off, throw a timing light on it and just check that. you might be a tooth or so off on your timing belt.

Re: HELP! NEW BUILD LOW COMPRSSION
ur supposed to do a compression test with the car fully warmed up and WOT while cranking...if ur car hasnt started yet, it could affect the numbers. make sure you have fuel and spark and the correct firing order.

Yes, that is one of the reasons a car wouldn't start, but their are several other reason like no gas, no spark, fuel pump gone bad, etc, etc.

its 1-3-4-2....but i dont remember for sure where #1 is on the dizzy...i think its the lower output nearest the firewall. im sure a search would yield the answer though....probably clean the plugs off to, they might be covered in fuel by now.

Re: HELP! NEW BUILD LOW COMPRSSION
like stated above 3 diffrent times.. backfiring through intake sounds like eitehr firing order not correct..or timing is not dead on.
if timing is NOT dead on then you would have low compression.
also with brand new pistons and rings, i would assume a "wet" compression test would yield way better results. put about a tablespoon of oil on top of the pistons..then do a compression check if it worries you that much.
backfiring through intake is wrong firing order either by spark plugs wires in the wrong order or timing (essentially opening valves at wrong time)

Re: HELP! NEW BUILD LOW COMPRSSION
Did you have the pressure checked, vacuum checked and head surface decked? If the valve seats are leaking then that can a reason for the lower compression numbers. Timing belt might be off and firing order can be off as well.

well um headgasket didnt seal porperly and the intake gasket wasnt even there!!!! i think once this is str8ten out everythin migh run right lol
