HELP! need some LSD info QUICK - ITR into Si.
ok...I have the opportuinity to get an ITR LSD unit cheap to put into my 00 Si. I want to know what I will need to fit this thing in my tranny. I have heard that it needs to be shimmed and something about a main diff bearing needing replacing cuz its too big.
Has anybody ever put an ITR LSD into their Si?
what do I need to do to get this lsd into my tranny?
difficulty level of such a project (not because I want to do it myself, but just out of curiosity)
I know that aftermarket quafie's and stuff like that is better than the oem itr but I am not really racing and **** like that. My car will probably not see over 200hp anyway. I just want it....it will make my car hook up a bit better and corner a bit better as well, which is all I'm really looking for. And its a good deal so I can't pass it up....but if it won't fit then there's no point in buying it. Also, I'm a big fan of OEM "performance" parts.
thanks for the info....

You will the ring gear from either an ITR or a CTR. The inside diameter is different from the Si differential. I am doing the same thing; I just waited until I bought a JDM 4.75 final drive set, which comes with the ring gear you need. Now all I am waiting on are synchro sleeve sets.

the ring gear is the only difference?
what about the main diff bearing?
do you know if the tranny needs to be shimmed?
what does the ring gear cost and can I get it from the dealer?
I don't think I'll be changing the final drive just yet.....plus, final drives are expensive.

From what I have heard, the bearing type is up to you. However, I was told you should use the roller bearings. How accurate this is, I don't really know.
I am sure you can get the ring gear from an Acura dealer, or try http://www.acuraautomotive.net
Also try "Katman", he might still have a CTR ring gear.

You can use the ring gear off of your stock open diff. You can reuse the bearing off of the LSD or your open diff if you want, or you can order new ones. They're around $30 from the dealer; a little less from hparts.com.
You'll need to properly shim the transmission housing. This shim goes in between the diff and case to take up any manufacturing tolerances. For example, my stock Si transmission had a 1.30mm shim. I used the 1.00mm shim with my ITR LSD.

You'll need two of those bearings.
The shims are on this page:

Something to consider:
When you put the transmission back together, you can either measure the clearance and determine which shim will fit, then order it. Or, you can order them all and use the one that fits. If you do the latter, check with wherever you get it to ensure that you can return what you don't use (my local dealership did accept a return with no restocking fee... though I think they forgot to charge the restock
