HELP!! My Mugen Rear STB finally arrived today *pic*
I ordered the Mugen rear strut bar from Leo. Well after waiting 3 months, they finally arrived today!
It will be installed on my 99Si. What is the best cutting tool available to make the cleanest, most professional looking cuts on the trunk liner? I need something that will be simple to make the cuts and at the same time be precise. Any other useful tips and tricks on making the cuts?
Once the bar is installed, I will have the edge for each hole stitched by an auto upholstery shop so it will look vey nice in the end.

You're just cutting through the trunk liner carpet correct? I used a VERY sharp blade...IE razor or something similar. Start small...Work your way out. That carpet is so thin it will slice like butter...So be careful.

I bought this foam pad designed for rollbars a few months ago praying that when the Mugen bar arrives, it would fit on it nicely. I wanted something to protect the bar from junk in the trunk banging against the bar and scraping it. I just test fitted the pad on the bar, and not only does it fit nicely, it fits PERFECTLY, very snug, hugs tighter than an OJ Simpson glove! The length was right on the dot also, like it was designed for this thing!
Here are some pics of the pads.......
A close up of the ends.....
Just test fitted them a few minutes ago......

In a Civic hatchback or Integra coupe you need to cut the hard plastic/vinyl sidepanles, best to use a sharp exacto knife or a dremel tool.
measure twice, cut once.
In a Civic coupe/sedan or Integra sedan you are only cutting the trunk sidepanels that are a plastic reinforced carpet. Very easy to not cut a piece out of, just cut a half circle that will become a flap thru which the bar can pass. That way if you remove the bar you can close the flap and duct tape it shut.
Wicked bar man, I wouldnt worry about the bar getting scuffed up, really, you can't imagine how much abuse mine has taken and it still looks as good as new!
I love my Mugen rear bar
