Icon6 Help My car Keeps Sputtering??

I have a 1993 Civic SI Hatchback. has 213000 miles on it. when I accelerate the car has powers than loses it has power than loses it. and when I idle sometimes the RPM's flucuate on there own with me pressing tha gas. any ideas?? I have also had to replace the distributor in the car 3 times in the last 4 years. could anything be causing the distributor to keep going out?? thanks.

Power loss: Any CEL codes? Change the spark plugs, ires, cap, and rotor. Check the ignition timing.

Idle: Clean the IACV and FITV.

What component in the distributor keeps going bad?

CEL -- click here.

Search the forum to find threads on cleaning the IACV. Click here for cleaning the FITV.

Distributor -- Sounds like the rotor screw was coming loose.

Sorry no. I do all of the work on my Civics.

Start by pulling CEL codes and cleaning the IACV and FITV.

how about fuel filter and air filter. If either are totally clogged up...
Cleaning the IACV will fix your idle
