Default Help with my 95 civic and help make faster?

I just bought a 95 honda civic dx. I cant get my front signal lights to work . The backs flash fine. I was also looking to c what engine i should swap it with. I want a lil more power. Something just to give me more power then the engine it has. I dont want something super fast to race or anything . What should i start off with . I dont have much money so i wannna start off a lil cheaper. Also if i wanted to change the body on it up to what year fit on it?

as far as the front signals, did you check the bulbs? is the wiring intact, or cut up somewhere? as far as swapping, you have more than enough options.... you can do a mini-me swap, ls swap, or a b16 swap... there is more than enough info on the forum to start you in the right direction... be sure to thoroughly search because the info is there...and as far as the body, pretty much what ever years your car came in is what you can swap with without problems.... but theres a few exceptions...... hope this helps

The swap I did for my 93 Dx coupe is the JDM sohc D15B vtec, great for the price n that extra little boost of VtEc power ur lookin for!!! U can use the same tranny u already have, the extra parts ur gonna need ; ecu (i'm using a p28), just need someone to wire up the Vtec from the Vtec solenoid to the Ecu.... That's it!
As of now I have intake, headers, Si tranny, n straight pipe (stock piping).. n it hauls for being a SingleOverHeadCam!
I got engine for $400
ecu p28 for $80
I got it wired for $10
$500 is a good price for a great engine IMO
I kno I kno it's not a dohc but I love it

There is a ground that is connected to the chassis on the front. But if this were not connected you headlights wouldnt work as well. I would say check the bulb. lol. If not bulb then it is a fuse or the wiring. But I think the fuse would be the same for both fronts....

If you want something that you are not going to race people in go for the b16hahahahahah I hate those bottom ends.

I would say best bang for the buck is the torque-EEEE LS out of a integra. Also a very easy plug and play swap after reading some write-ups on H-T. Good luck.

X2 for the LS swap. easy to swap and cheap power. Seen some complete swaps going for about $600 for everything

lol my front signal lights didnt work becuase 1 didnt have a bulb the other one needs a bulb socket. Now im just wondering why alot of my fuses are burnt out and why they have speaker wire around the fuses. I replaced alot of burnt out ones and on 1 the fuse had melted the plastic around it. Anyone know why is that?... I cant install my cd player becuase the car doesnt have the harness. I cant really figure out the colors. I saw a page on here that showed the colors did like it said and it didnt work , i hope he didnt give me a burnt cd player.

the only thing i really want to do to it is get a bigger engine . I hate having a lil engine dat doesnt pick up fast enough especially when im tryin to pass someone. Its a 5 speed stick to the ******* tlkin ****. Ima go with a engine i find on craigslist. I want at lease a 1.6 or 1.8 not lookin for more. I do want a vtec. The car looks nice right now just needs a lil work on the outside . First ima try to clean up the exterior . Then when i have the money ima get a engine swap. I see them going for about 6-8 hundred . If i want to change the engine i have to change the tranny right? What is the difference one the tranny swaps does it really make much of a difference on the shifting?

Finding a DOHC VTEC B series will not be easy for 6-800 full swap, you could come across an almost complete longblock for that but full swap is unlikely. Also, you need to change the transmission, unless you buy another d series motor. The second statement about the trans I could not decipher. For the money you are looking to spend look into buying a B18b.

Ok say i am willing to blow only 6-8 hundred on a engine. What would be the best engine to get for that price. Mounting the engine should be easy since i have someone who knows how to do it. But changing the obd harness not so much.
I know these are stupid newb questions. but its the only way to learn. Ive been doin research to on this stuff.

Thanks for all the replies .

Also if i find a engine with a automatic tranny . I can use just the engine an keep my 5 speed trany instead of swaping it all out ? Would i need to make sum kind of adjustment to make my 5 speed tranny fit on the engine or anything?

Your best bet would to put the 6-800 into a turbo and doing that.

Naw you don't need a vtec motor to start with. The LS (B18A1 or slighty more powerful B18A1) will be a world of difference from the motor you have in now. All you have to do is get a LS swap put it in...get used to the power...if you want more power...vtec head swap with whatever you perfer...

The LS is such a change over the stock single cams.

But also keep in mind that single cam turbos are pretty nasty...but then you will most likely want more power, crank the boost up, and blow her sky high. If it were me I would START with the LS....

just my .02

lol i think you meant to say b18a1 or b18b1..
but i knew what you were talking about,
ya i just put my ls in my four door, i had a z6 on a fifty shot of canadian bam bam, and it feels way better imo, almost straight plug n play,
but you will have to get a trans for what ever motor you get unlees you stay with a single cam, like d15b use your existing trans, z6 same trans, y8 same trans, but b16 get a 5 speed b series trans, b18 get a 5 speed speed b series trans
