Default Help me with my new D15B

ok so i have oredered a D15B7 im pretty sure, (this is the one with dual stage vtec)

it should come in the mail in the next couple of days
my car that im putting it into is a 1997 ek coupe dx
I was rocking out the Y7 till it just stopped running for me
So i took the head off and there was some liquid in 2 cylinders, and the crankshaft wouldn't turn

SO like i said i ordered this D15B in hopes of getting even better economy
I have the D16Y8 ECU which im not even sure what its called,
but i was wondering if i could use it to run the D15B (only running the 2nd stage of the vtec)
or could i get a P2P ECU and only run the 2nd and 3rd stages

the only reason i ask is because i looked up the P2J Ecu on ebay and they want like $200 or $300 for one.

PLZ HELP

first of all the d15b7 never came vtec. second of all the jdm d15b did come with vtec but not vtec-e which i think is what your trying to describe(multiple stage vtec) third since it sounds like you might be a little new to hondas and or cars i would not recommend that swap considering the d15b is obd1 and what you have is obd2

No it wont properly run the motor. It will start it but the idling will be off becuz of the d16 MAPS tryin to work with D15 MAPS. U need to get the correct ECU for that motor. Which is P27 I think.

some one else on here has tried it but all i know is the wiring for the dual vtec is going to be a pain so have fun and keep searching for wiring diagrams if your new to honda's you shouldnt try this swap and if your not good with wires dont even think about it

hey i got the same motor in my car and i like it but im running obd1 using a p28 stock ecu with a y8 im so basically im running it like a z6 because we got smog in cali so yeah but problem is vtec engages and then throw check engine and vtec no work anyone got anwsers to that. check engine is for vtec pressure. o my buddy ahd the same swap and loved the gas milage but couldnt pass smog with that ecu so he ran a dx ecu and passed great motor by the way

Yeah I have a stock 94 dx hatch with original motor. I get 33+ mpg and it has 170000 and drives like new. It has routine maintence but every car does. I'm in the process of buying another d15b7 and I'm going to build it up and drop it into another hatch. I love this engine

D15z7 (its got d15b case stampings though)

you're best bet is to use an obd1 VTEC ECU along with a piggyback unit like the Apexi VAFC or VAFC 2. have the ECU activate the 2nd solenoid, and the VAFC run the first.

or you could get an RPM activated switch, like

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=SUM-830449

or

http://www.mpsracing.com/products/MSD/ig02i.asp

set to around 2000-2500rpm

then you will have to worry about whether or not you're gonna need a map on your ECU, but you can run the engine like that.

Peter 404 21 I would be glad to help, I had to figure this swap out myself and it was a pain. For one it was a good choice to buy a obd2 engine for an obd2 car that will save you a headache.

I would recomend getting the ecu for this engine (p2j) and add the wiring needed to run the 2nd vtec seliniod and the egr valve. You will need to do a lot of research to figure out the wiring. Be carefull that the vtecs and egr and everything else is wired correctly so you do not blow the motor.

Although this is a tricky swap if done correctly you will be pleased. I am getting over 50mpg on the highway and it gets to 60 in under 7 seconds.

Good luck.
