Help me identify this: White face EG cluster, not JDM?
So, I'm at the junkyard and I stumble across this.
It came out of what seemed to be a stock 1995 Civic EX Coupe. At first glance I thought it was JDM but turns out it isn't.
The big giveaway is the speedometer that reads MPH instead of KPH.
It couldn't have been taken from a B16A SiR because redline on this cluster is at 7200 which is normally for SOHC VTEC engines.
I can't say that this is an aftermarket piece because the OE Manufacturers stamp NS (Nippon Seiki) is visible and in the stock location on the speedo.
Although this can be faked, here is a pic of the cluster behind the bezel. Notice this is not a white face overlay.
If this is fake I give props to whoever took the time and trouble to carefully mask the numbers and paint around and under the needles to achieve this look.
If not, my question is... Where else can you find a non-JDM white face OEM EG guage cluster? Did Canada have these in their SiR's (EX/USDM) or was this a factory option by Honda at the time?
*I could care less that this cluster is not JDM because I find it impractical trying to convert KMH to MPH, especially since Math is not my strongest subject And in the end, if we determine it's a fake it's all good with me because i'm not complaining about what I paid for it
UPDATE: I just installed the cluster. When I turn on the dash lights, it looks like the numbers are backlit in green and the redline is backlit in red/orange. ???
JUST ADDED: Here are a couple of night pics.
See what I mean about the backlighting? So what's the final decision? Aftermarket or OEM?

Just to clarify this, the only Photoshop I did to the pics were the text of "Nippon Seiki" Otherwise, the rest of the pics came straight off my digicam and have been unaltered. I know a few of them are blurry but that's the best I could do.

HAHA Yeah, I figured he thought the orange writing was part of the cluster. If it was, I'd say fake in a heartbeat!

You've got a point there, and if you notice there isn't a KPH table under the MPH. So could this be a strictly USDM piece?

Re: (JDM-Vic)
Yeah, I'm sure there is only one face on the cluster and no overlay because I tried lifting the surface face and behind it were the electronics. I know it's kind of hard to tell in the pic.
Normally stock black faces are opaque (not see through) and if the white were painted over a stock black face there wouldn't be any backlighting behind the numbers and redline like this cluster has.

it can't be overlays...check out the warning lights below the gas and temp gauges. Looks like the JDM ones look. Wow...this one is a stumper! Keep that cluster...its definately rare!
