Help me identify the cause of this noise (2 Videos inside)
its a b16a2 with 90k miles. currently the motor is bone stock although it was boosted for about 1,000 miles. however this noise started about 20k miles since i took the turbo kit off.
it should be noted that sometimes when the motor is mildly warm, i can hear what im guessing to be a coolant line clog up, which immediately causes the noise to stop completely, and my motor sounds how it did when i bought it about 50k miles ago. within a second the "clog" passes and the noise continues as usual. again this only happens when its starting to get warm.
parked in the garage.

driving. on this video please pay close attention to the noise at around 35 seconds.

when i described the noise i heard it was everything from rod knock to the water pump, so i thought i would post videos of the sounds. let me know what you think it is and how certain you are.

In the first video it kiind of sounds like there's no oil to lubricate the bottom end. Or maybe the top end needs to be adjusted. Can't really tell where it's coming from, from the video.

Sounds nasty. I think its a bad timing belt tensioner. maybe the timing belt tensioner has bad bearings and it causing it. This is probably the problem check it.

Hard to tell from the video. Could be the crank pulley/harmonic balancer. Worth a look.
When you rev it does the noise get louder? Does it increase speed with RPMs?

it sounds like bad bearings somewhere. not a motor problem though. not rods bearings or any crazy **** like that. the crank pulley don't have bearings R666 EK. And it sounds like its coming from the timing belt area. and you have a lot of miles. right around the miles the timing belt and water pump and tensioner needs replacement.

It could be anything. I simply told him to take a look. At idle its not a constant noise.

I know you didn't just letting the OP know. It couldn't be that crank pulley. Its best that he finds out WHERE the noise is coming from and go from their. I hear it from the timing belt area on the videos he posted. im not sure though.

ill add that my car, when its at idle, sounds like its a 1.6 liter V8 that is idling.

lol, i wouldn't drive it much man. well unless you want that tensioner to let go of the timing belt and bend a few valves and ruin the head.

Re: Help me identify the cause of this noise (2 Videos inside)
well i found out what it was. i took the lower timing belt cover off and started the car so i could see where the sound was coming from better. it turned out to be the power steering pump. luckily i had an extra steering column in my garage, and replaced the pump real quick.
thanks for the help everyone
