Help me find a big bolt on my 94 that fell off/snapped..
So I was cruising today around 50 mph's and if course hitting every little bump a slammed EG does. Well I hit a little bump and heard a bolt go from the front of the car all the way under and through and saw it bouncing around behind me... It looked decent sized, enough to see bouncing around on a street in a rear view doing 50mph(not your typical 10mm-17mm honda bolt). The best way I can describe it is around the size of the bolt that keeps the fork to the lower control arm... I'll paste a picture. Also, I have inspected as much as I can prior Tuesday when I have a day to fully jack the car up and take a look. What I have inspected so far... Everything I just redid(coilovers, brakes, EF forks). Nothing looks like it's missing a bolt. I looked at the motor mounts, they're fine. I'm not asking for "what" bolt I'm missing, I'm just looking for suggestions so Tuesday when I get underneath, I have a list of what too LOOK for. Thanks a lot guys! I work on my car purely by myself and wouldn't be able to do it half the time without the help of this forum.

The one in your picture looks like the alternator bolt.
Is your car having any problems besides bolts falling off?

No problems outside of it falling off.. and my second post, I said the bolt was comparable to this one(the picture is not the EXACT one). I could not go back to get it due the traffic of the main state route but yes this exact bolt is a stock front fork bolt. My main question is bolts this size, outside of the suspension, are where? Just so I can look on Tuesday. I drove the car home fine tonight and will drive my daily tomorrow to work till I'm off on Tuesday to jack this car up. It's hard to inspect when you have 2" of viewing angle everywhere you look because the car is so damn low. A guy at work said crawl underneath... YEAH... If all fails and everything checks out, I'll venture onto the idea the bolt was already in the street and I spit it back up going over it. I'm just the paranoid type and want to make sure. Thanks guys. I'll check the alternator/start tomorrow because I know the starter has a nice bolt going to it(first thing replaced).

Check around your rear subframe / rack and pinion. Some pretty good sized 19mm head bolts around there.

When you worked on the suspension, did you replace (not re-use) all the self-locking nuts and bolts? For a refresher on which suspension bolts to check, go to bkhondaparts.com for your 94 CX and look under front lower arm; front shock absorber; rear lower arm; rear shock absorber. E.g.
Edit: Like some here say they have done, I also have re-used self-locking bolts. But if I had recently worked on the frame, suspension etc., and a bolt had gone missing, then the re-used, self-locking ones are the first ones I would check.

Oh you mean the ones that go into a thread, ie, not a "nut"? Like the rear subframe bolts? and if so, no I just bolted them back in but they are still there as we speak.

Right, but I'm paranoid. This is always a week or two after I got her back on the ground and I've hit bigger bumps prior to this little one I had hit yesterday. So far so good. I'm going to thoroughly inspect more tomorrow before I wash her.

On self-locking nuts and bolts: If you go to the parts lists at bkshondaparts.com or any OEM site for the suspension and brake parts you replaced, the list will say what is self-locking. Generally, there is some kind of nylon (plastic-looking) insert in the self-locking bolt or self-locking nut. In the drawing above, 16, 19, 22, and 23 are self-locking.

Go under the car and start looking for missing bolts
IF your lower fork bolt came out, you would know rather quickly. Fork would be sitting on the axle.
I have always re used those don't re use bolts. No issues here, ever.

Every bolt checks out from the list I have gathered. I'm trying to think of what bolt I could have "left" up or somewhere for that matter. and 98civdx; I've always done the same. I just apply a light amount of lube or anti seize(depending on the bolt if any) and go on my way. Thank again guys. I will look more tomorrow in the pure daylight.

Looked all day. Could not find a single big bolt missing anywhere along the suspension/etc.

Found one rubber piece with no bolt in it. Have the diagram+my own pictures. It doesn't look like there is anything around that it would "bolt" to.
The bolt missing is number 18 on number 12 "insulator"...

I don't have anything there though, irrelevant? Like I could slide a bolt in it but it wouldn't be bolting anything lol
