Help me diagnose my shock problem!!! pics!!!
I put on new suspension last week and when i took the car off the jackstands to have it sit normally, this is what i saw:
Keep in mind what the shock is SUPPOSED to look like:
This is on an EK with rear disc conversion. I have yet to do an alignment since doing all the suspension work... could that be a problem? Is my shock BLOWN? How can i tell for sure if i have a blown shock?
Please also note that I replaced the upper shock mount once already after I did, and it did the same thing with the new upper mount right away.

Dod you but the washers (for lack of a better term) on the bottom of hte shock so they sandwich busing
--- <- washer
--- <- Bushing
--- <- Shock top hat
--- <- Bushing
--- <- Washer - if that washer is missing the shocks will push through like in your pick.
Sorry for the lack of technical terms.

You dont have to take the whole car apart to fix this problem. What you do is take everything that has pushed through the shock tower, and push the strut rod DOWN through the hole with a breaker bar. Be quick about it, it may take a few trial and errors. It takes quite a lot of strength to push that strut down (atleast it did on my konis) This takes 2 people for sure!!
Reach underneath the car into the tire well, and slip the washer back onto the strut rod that you need. Once the washer is on, you can let the rod come back up through the shock tower hole and reattach everything that you had off before.
IT's a simple fix, I have done it before and it works wonders. It saves you a TON of hassle.
Nate.
