Help me De-rice my car Please!!
Okay i have had my car for about 4 months now and when i bought it it came with a 5in autometer tach w/ shift light right in the middle of the dash. I just started to relize how stupid and pointless that it is. My question is should i just unhook the wires from the back of the tach and put them in the back of my dash or should i completely unhook all of them, Also when i take it of the dash i know that there is going to be a dent and like two or three hole from where it has been sitting what can i do to cover them up. ANy suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
the tach will be for sale when it come off for 100.00 or best offer. Thanks

yeah the stock tach works. i have heard that if i leave wires in my dash they can touch somethingand short out the ecu or something like that. As for the hole maybe a sticker or some sort of filler.

lol.. so your gonna cover the 5" hole in your dash with a STICKER.... just cut the wires and tape them, end of story no real need to post.

I would completely uninstall it if I were you... trace all the wires to their source and repair where needed...
I don't like seeing cars with hacked-up wiring jobs... just keep it clean and uninstall it correctly...
About the holes in the dash, not much you can do about that, other than trying to cover them up with something...

Yes, whichever route you go, COVER THE WIRES. Dont leave any bare wire exposed, no matter what you think, they will eventually ground out on *something* and will either pop a fuse or let the magic smoke out of some part of your electrical system.
Letting magic smoke out = bad.

Let's see... you will need to unhook:
- Power (probably tapped into the fuse box accessory outlets, just unplug it)
- Ground (unscrew the ground wire)
- Dimmer (probably tapped into the fuse box accessory outlets, like the power, just unplug it too)
- Tach signal (probably tapped into the blue signal wire on the back of your gauge cluster, just unhook it )
I can't remember if there are others... it's been a few years since I've hooked one up...

just take whatever needs to taken out so you can do it right the first time. Once everything is taken apart remove the solder or crimps and tape up (with electrical tape) all the exposed wires. As far as the holes are concered, one way is to buy a new dash, put an emblem there, or fill the holes up grommet plugs for future use...

yea.. the whole 2oz of wires is really holding him back. better ditch the floor mats too.
i'm not a big fan of extra wires either. when u have the time, just trace them back to their origins and remove them. for now, make sure you tape each wire off INDIVIDUALLY as they can cause a short if they touch each other.

Re: Help me De-rice my car Please!! (nub.96ek)
yeas after the tach is out make sure u cut the wires clean so there is no frayed wire end and tape them up real tight with electrical tape and then i guess tape them aound something underneath ur dash so they are not danglin around all over as long as the metal part of the wire is not exposed u should be fine..if u go trying to take the wires out urself and u have no clue what u are doing u can potentially run into more problems then if u just left them..as for the holes u can get putty filler from a hobby shop or something of th sort and try and fill the holes and sand it then paint it the same color or closest..it should look decent..

If you really wanna fix the holes take out the dash and get it recovered it'll be like $200. Its not really worth it though just put an " I <3 MY HONDA" sticker over it.
