Default help with lug nuts

i recently purchased some volk formula racing mesh rims and was wondering what kind of lug nuts to buy to make sure they don't fall off. i have just been reading about lug nut seating and things like that. i currently have stock lugs on the rims. is that okay?

dont use the stock lugs on aftermarket wheels. just get some decent aftermarket lugs and you'll be set.

would those lugs be okay?
or do i need these ones:

i would prefer the first ones since they are cheaper by like $15

Stock lugs are ball seat. Almost all aftermarket wheels have 60 degree taper cone seat lugs. No it's not ok to have ball seat lugs on cone seat wheels, check to make sure you haven't damaged the tapers on the wheel. They're most likely ok, it's just that the wheels have a harder time centering without the right lugs.

Also watch out for all those JDM light weight lugs nuts. I don't recommend light weight lights for the street. I've had experience with some of those light weight lugs and they all seem to be the same deal no matter what brand thye are. They feel like they're going to strip everytime you try to tighten or loosen them. I would get steel Gorilla (McGard if you have the cash) lugs from Summit or your local Discount Tire (they're cheaper at Summit).

And for all those who love their light weight lugs, please someone prove to me that it's beneficial by showing me some moment of inertia calculations and how much that affects lap times...

So those lugs don't do anything for performance, possibly decreases reliability and cost more...

Hope this helps.

can you go to ebay and put this in the search box:
SHORT TUNER LUG NUTS ADR RS LIMITED 12MM 1.5 CIVIC +
these are the ones i prefer since they are cheaper. these don't seem to say anything about having a ball seat or cone seated though.

or:
INTEGRA CIVIC BLACK TUNER ACORN LUG NUTS 12mm 1.5 1.50

Try these.

http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku

And "Muteki" lugs are part of those "JDM generic/lightweight/not made of steel" lug nuts.

This is what I hate about rims. I hate having to find out the kind of insides of the lug wholes & buying the lugnuts to match the same way. So damn annoying.
